The 2009-2010 school year will be the second year of the district’s Elementary II Montessori program for fourth through sixth graders.  Most of the students have graduated from Lakeview Montessori School, and the E2 program continues to expand as a result of parent and community support. 

        The classroom is based on the methods of Maria Montessori, an Italian doctor.  It offers a three-hour work block, individualized work plans, and plenty of opportunities each day for student choice and independent research. 

        Mrs. Laura Lamon is the E2 teacher.  She has taught fifth grade, as well as first through sixth grade Montessori, in Sparta since coming to the district in 2006.  She taught sixth grade for five years before that in Waupaca.  Mrs. Lamon earned her bachelor’s with a major in elementary education and a minor in language arts in 2001 at Winona State University.  She hopes to finish her master’s in education before the end of the school year.   She enjoys running, hiking, biking, horseback riding, reading, and spending time with her family.
